Heart & Vascular Institute

At the essence of its design philosophy, the South Lake Heart & Vascular Institute strives to seamlessly integrate with the surrounding urban fabric while eloquently expressing its purpose. The architectural vision is to create a space that not only harmonizes with the existing community but also serves as a unique and powerful symbol of its function. The design is a delicate balance of modernity and tradition, providing an internal experience that embraces views of the community.

Upon entering through its doors, the Institute's design aims to make a powerful impact, immediately communicating its purpose and significance. The materials chosen and the variation in design elements serve as metaphors for the Institute's core mission. The outer structure, crafted with robust stone, symbolizes strength and firmness, seamlessly integrating with the ribbed glazing middle core. The touch of red within the design represents the heart's internal core, adding a meaningful and symbolic dimension to the architecture.

Situated on the South Lake Hospital campus in Clermont, Florida, this 18,500 SF cardiology center, constructed in 2014, is more than just a physical structure. It brings together various medical practices related to cardiology, including cardiology, endocrinology, vascular medicine, cardiac rehabilitation, and cardiac imaging. The Institute's comprehensive program ensures a multidisciplinary approach to treating cardiovascular patients, providing a hub for South Lake County and beyond.

The South Lake Heart & Vascular Institute was conceived with the intent of being extraordinary, and this vision is reflected not only in its program but also in its design and construction. As a beacon of excellence in healthcare architecture, it stands as a testament to the commitment to holistic patient care and innovation in cardiovascular medicine.

The Design Metaphor:

The design, at its core, should coexist in harmony with the existing urban fabric, yet speak to its function. Embrace views of the community as an internal experience, while being unique, modern yet traditional. Powerful in its purpose the moment you enter through its doors. Materials and variation in design, should reflect the design concept metaphor. The outer heart made with stone, strong and firm, integrates to the ribbed glazing middle core. The red, is a representation of heart’s internal core. The Institute was conceived to be extraordinary, it is only fitting that the design and construction follow suit.
