Powell Studio Architecture secured the Clermont Rowing Boathouse project through a competitive bid solicitation process, opting for a design/build project delivery method. Aligned with the City's fresh branding initiatives and a commitment to community well-being, the boathouse initiative was undertaken in collaboration with the Lake County Rowing Association. The primary goal was to introduce competitive rowing to the South Lake Community, offering citizens an opportunity to engage with and learn the sport.
The facility, inaugurated in 2015, garnered enthusiastic support from the community. Spanning approximately 8,000 sq. ft., the building features a spacious storage room designed to accommodate 60-75 foot rowing vessels on racks. In addition to this, the design incorporates an exercise porch, offices, and public restroom facilities.
Crafted as a modified pre-engineered metal structure, the boathouse utilizes top-notch materials and embraces a conceptual and metaphorical design that mirrors its purpose. Located along the shores of Lake Minneola, this facility has swiftly earned its reputation as the preferred choice of champions.
